ACTOR / PRODUCER / WRITER
On August 13, 1974 in a British Military Base hospital in Cyprus, the Turkish army were invading and occupying the country. That didn't stop me from being born right in the thick of it. Both my parents, Greek Cypriot mother, a nurse, and Welsh father, military police, were stationed there, and I was more hassle than what was going on outside. At the tender age of four I accidentally interrupted my dad watching some sort of frightening film, and him seeing me there at around 4 o'clock in the morning because I couldn't sleep gave him more of a fright than the actual film did. To his horror, my face was transfixed to the screen and it was too late: I had been introduced to the movies.
My love affair with the silver screen and my marriage to the small screen continued to blossom, which led me to recognise an ambition, one I continued to put off constantly as the years passed, which stemmed from low confidence and self-esteem. Fast-forward to the much later age of 31, and I finally faced my demon, "Can I act?" I auditioned at a good acting school, and out of 400 men (only three male placements are allocated a year), I was picked. A year later I had my screen acting postgraduate diploma.
I was honoured to be part of a new version of an old British show, as a uniformed policeman in a highly anticipated TV drama series, which is a prequel to the popular PRIME SUSPECT series from the 1990's, starring Helen Mirren as the ever popular character Jane Tennison. The new series goes back to her roots in her first days as a police woman in the 1970's, but she was a probation officer first, who then finds her niche in homicide. The ITV series is called, 'PRIME SUSPECT 1973', and came out in March 2017 and finished in April (6 episodes). Here's looking forward to a season 2 of the show, hopefully.
